OK i need to know somethin' I got a PCI Faxmodem with an Intel Chipset. It works fine i guess the only problem is that it takes WAY to long to dial all in. I have heard that you can run a script when dialing up but i have been un-able to find any such thing. The modem is Hardware Base and supports all protocols.
How the heck can i make it dial in faster.
Modem is a *Intel HaM Plus V.90 Modem*
Plz help

Untick "Log on to network" in Advanced settings for the Dialer.

That is my modem.
PS. do not get the updated drivers
pre-updating I always dialed in at 44,00 (not too good, so I thought I would update)
Well after updating I couldn't get above 33,600.

richard_cocks - do you find that it takes along time to dial up or what ?
also what type of system do you have Intel or AMD ?

You could set the maximum connection speed (in control panel, modems) to a lower setting, such as 38400.The problem could be the handshaking with your ISP.If the modem can't get a 56k handshake, etc. the connection has to be renegotiated with the ISP server. That means it takes alot longer.
Using a different driver or firmware update may resolve it also.

If you are looking to shortedn connect time, in advanced properties of your connection firstly do what Bipolar Bill suggested and untick the log on to network.
Also untick the protocols which aren't TCP/IP.
Then, plug your speakers into the sound out from the modem, and listen. Try to hear if it is taking a long time to do something, or if it has to re-do the funny noises (this is handshaking, caused by not being able to get a reliable connection at a high speed).
By the way with this modem and my ISP I can dial up in 29seconds not including validating username and password.

My Diamond Supra Express 56e Pro used to take a little to dial-up and A LOT to disconnect; the easiest way to correct this is, apart from all the above (that will help a great deal) switching ISP ;) That was enough for my modem do dial-up faster and disconnect instantly whn requested

Anyone suggest any ISP/Modem pairs that get them about 36000?
I am only connecting and 17.5, and it really sucks...
Freeserve? Yeah right. Still, updating to an external in a few hours, so will see how that goes.

You should get way above 17.5kbps on any modem and ISP.
The lowest some problems can cause are non v90 modems on some ISPs get 33.6kbps because of some issues. However if you can't get above 17.5 I would check your phone line.

Yes...hook up a phone to the line, pick up and dial 1. If you hear noise, you have your problem.
