I just purchased and installed this motherboard MSI K7 Pro. It is great everything on the computer runs smooth . No problems

EXCEPT: My cd writer HP writer plus 8210e can not be recognized. Ho is stumped we have done everyting. Maybe it is plain and simple that this motherboard doesn't like this hardware or HP's software sucks. Running win 2000. Any ideas? Thank you

Have you looked for up-dated drivers from both MSI and HP? Are you running more than one CD ROM, if so, is one set as the master and one set as the slave?

I'm running the MSI K7 Pro with the Yamaha CD RW and a DVD and I have the CD RW set as slave and everything works fine.

I know in the past, HP accessories didn't like to work right with non-HP systems. But that is getting rare with todays stuff. Also, if I remember right, it was more towards HP systems didn't like to work with non-HP accessories.
