My Win98 machine has the following in the Network neighnourhood:

Client for Microsoft Networks
3Com Etherlink III ISA (3c509b-TPO) in PnP Mode
Dialup Adapter
TCP/IP ->3Com Etherlink III ISA (3c509b-TPO) in PnP mode
TCP/IP -> dial-up Adapter

Ok I have connection to internet via dialup and connect to a other machine that is used as storage.

What are they and which may I remove?

You need all of them if you use a dialup and connect to another machine locally. Network logon client, Network adapters (3com NIC and dialup adapter), and network protocols (TCP/IP stack for LAN and WAN). I guess the question is "Why would you have the idea you needed to remove any of that information?" What benefit do you think it would serve? Those are just network components and there property details.

Thanks the info is appreciated.

Why do I want to know what they are? Well I try to delete anything that is not needed on my machine. And if I do not ask I may just delete sonmething that I need.

Aftre all I would rather be ignorant for a short while than ignorant for the rest of my life.
