I just added a 128mb crucial stick to my #1 slot and i put the 64mb stick in the second slot. System info says i only have the 128 mb. Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong? BTW they are both firmly seated in their holders. Thanks in advance.
First, are they both the same type of RAM (ECC, NON-ECC etc..)?
Second, you can try looking in your BIOS and see if there is a line where you can enable/diable the RAM slots.

What happen's if you swap them round?
I've seen many problem's with mixed stick's. They might not work together, also are they the same spec's?
All the best, Justy.

Yep, do what justy says. I too have had experience with RAM sticks not agreeing with each other.

Thanks for the help so far! The 64mb is the one that came with it. The new crucial 128mb
is specific to that model (not generic). I would think they should work together.
P.S. the one that is recognized is the new one. Swapping them results in the comp. recognizing the 64mb only. How do you tell it there is a stick of RAM in the #2 slot?

Tom,
Give me a idea of what your mobo is.
I.E. model no. ; bios I.D. ; board I.D.
We might be able to work this out yet. It might be as RAT said, a matter of enabling the second slot, either in the bios or by a jumper on the mobo.
All the best, Justy.

While this is commonly not required for current motherboards, a small number of older m/b's will only recognize more additional memory slots after installing the memory and resetting the BIOS. Might be worth a try.

I do not know what the mobo is. It came with the HP 6745c. It uses an intel 810i chip set and a celleron 700mhz that is the only thing i can tell you about it. I don't know what the bios is or where to find it. Thaks again!

Try both sticks in slot 2.
