Hi i have a problem, i bought a FIC VC11 P4 barebones w/ 300w P4 PS from tigerdirect.com, anyways, i got it all hooked up correctly, i think.. anyways when i went to boot it up for the first time it turned on for a second then immediately shut itself down. when i have the 12v plug unplugged the fan will run along with my a: drive but comp screen stays blank obviously. my mobo and everything i put into it along with a new gforce 3, memory, harddrives and so on is all brand new, so what im asking is could i have some kind of short in my power supply or did something happen to my mobo?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

Try this. Disconnect everything except the keyboard and video card. remove the ram modules and put just one module back in...seat that module good...it takes a lot of pressure to get ram seated good, and I do mean a lot. What I usually say here is, just before hammering the ram down with the hammer...stop. Many boot failures are traced back to the ram not being seated properly.
Then see if you get any screen on bootup.
One more thing, many modern motherboards require that the cpu fan be connected to the motherboard cpu fan headers. If you connect the cpu fan to the molex connector from the psu...or, connect it to some other motherboard fan header, the system will not boot. The bios must recognize that a fan is connected to the cpu fan header on the board.

Are you talking about the four wire 12 volt plug that comes from the power supply and goes right next to one on the fan plugs.

The 4 and 6 pin connectors must be plugged in on the P4 for the machine to post. I have circled the connectors in red on your motherboard. Check to make sure these are connected.
Also make sure that the cpu fan is connected to the cpu fan connector otherwise that would also cause the system not to post.
Im attaching a jpg.
