Ok, here is the sequence of events....

1. New Computer, can't remember if specific caused it but the mobo failed.
2. Gets replaced
3. Computer acts weird on (cold not re-) startup every now and then, including, no beeps, then error beepsfor the video card, normal startup but the monitor doesn't turn on, finally everything starts up.
4. Have a ftp program running, come back to the computer, its off, never starts up again
5. mobo gets replaced
6. Same problem with the cold startups
7. Playing Diablo 2, computer freezes, go to restart, mobo is bad again.

Each time I couldn't get it started I did as advised by tech support to take out each pci card and the memory chips and video card etc, and also reset the bios. It definately seems to be the mobo failing but my question is, How is it failing?!!?!

maybe the mobo is shorting out - are you using rubber washers?

I'm not sure, you mean between the case mounts and the motherboard itself?? And even if I wasn't wouldn't it short out immediately or even right after its been moved?? Arg....

Check the power supply. If it isn't feeding enough power. You can get all sorts of wierd problems.
No boot or reboots are just some of them. What brand of power supply? How big is it? How old is it?
Most late model computers I wouldn't run anything under a 300 watt power supply on it.

It is most likely a generic brand power supply. It's 300 watt and it's as old as the whole computer (year and half). I'll have to try a new power supply. Thanks for your help; any other ideas are welcome!
