Okay, I just got an ABIT KR7A-133R motherboard last night which I'll be using in a system build within the next month as I gather the other components in the coming weeks.

The one thing I'm undecided about, is what to do in terms of hard drives. I was planning on getting two 60GB Maxtor Ultra ATA 133s & striping them (I don't keep anything vital on my home PC, so I'm not particularly worried about data loss). However, I've been hearing good things about Western Digital's new 120GB drive with 8MB buffer. Many are saying it outperforms most SCSI drives.

Now, what I'd do if I had the cash, would be get two of the WDs & stripe them. :D But as I don't, I'm looking for some opinions here. Anyone got a chance play with either the new WD or the Maxtor 133s?

But as I don't

This one leaves as with fewer options :)
I've tested those newer WD drives, but with 2MB cache, and they performed very well (against Barracuda IV and 60GXP). Now, 8MB cache model is indeed can outperform them by up to 15%, and stripped to RAID 0 can provide you with very nice performance.
But again, money is an issue, so it's up to you ...
