How well will it run, will i be essential to overclock it to be able to run the game at decent FPS say 60 or above in resulutions such as 1024 by 768 or 1280 by 1024???

any suggestions please??

My friend with MX400 and 1.2GHz T-Bird runs it quite well @800x600x32, we didn't count the fps but it's pretty smooth :)

I played it on my geforce 2mx 400, but it was unplayable at 1024x768. And forget about 1280x1204.

I played it at 640x480(or whatever that second number is.)

I tried at 800x600 but I didnt think it looked very nice.

I shortly upgraded to a Geforce ti 200. Which can run it at the highest fo everything.:)

Other sys parts at that time.

640 Pc 133 Ram
1.33t-bird

O yea and the first day I had it my proc was a Duron 800mhz

I have a Geforce2 mx 400 in a PIII 800 and RTCW runs like a slug through treacle no matter what resolution I try, also turn all the high end options off but it's useless. Have uninstalled it..

Hi there,

Not sure why you guys are have a problem with RTCW and a G2mX400, I've got a G2200mX with a duron 850 and 193meg of sdr ram and it play fine in 800*600. Mybe you should try a newer driver. Nvida have just released a new driver, must try them tonight :D

k well today i got a try at a GeForceMX200 and it did pretty darn well in games like Max Payn amd 4x4 Rally or something like that some graphic intense car/truck racing game!! i mean i didn't bother checking the FPS i based it on 1024x768 resolution and i ran fine as in playble speed and graphic wise it was pleasnt to watch it!!!

now i can only imagine what it's bigger brother the MX400 can do if we maybe even turned on AA to x2 i mean it's not really a bad product as everyone has harshly made it sound to be....im happy with it's output, considering not everone has 500bucks to throw out for a GeForce4 Ti 4600 or even a GeForce3 Ti500 which is hardly any cheaper than it's so-called bigger, better, faster brother the TI4600 !!

besides with constant driver updates from nvidia, performance improves, hey BTW does anyone one knowwhy my friend can't play Max Payn on his Asus GeForce3 Ti500, could it be a driver issue, i mean we get all the way to the opening menu but when we try to go to either to Tutorial or New Game it loads half way and it exits to the desktop!!! any suggestions as to work around this problem, umm it's it's a AMD XP2100+ lots of memory 2Gigs totall two big 120 megs HD and 19" monitor....so the system is fine but the game wont werk??!

Help!!

Hey Tekked.. I have tried every driver known to man in a vain attempt to get RTCW to work on the PIII 800 and it's still hopeless! I am currently awaiting delivery of a GeForce 3Ti 200 from Jungle.com.... £139.00.. I'll let you know how it goes :-)

It runs ok, about 40-45fps on my old 1.1GHz Pentium III.

I ran RTCW on my OLD pIII 500 with a Riva TNT2 ultra and it ran fine in 800*600 (slightly lower detail, but smooth). I find it hard to believe when people say my "old" 1.1ghz! LOL!

yeah i still think my PIII 800 is kewl and not so hold *runs and hides to avoid being laughed at* and yeaaa........

PS. i think nvidia's 6 month thing is totally **** and pissing me off...all it's marketing and money!! they should release new techonly once a year meaning video card wise and not every six months or so because all they do is add up the speed and everything is still all the same!!! so more money for more speed while everything else is all the same!!!

LoL the GF4 doesn't have smoothvision.

The 20fps isn't worth the 300+ price tag either.

Very nice system though!

I had to throw my two cents in as I can't believe you guys are having so many problems running RTCW. I have a PII 350mhz with 256mb system RAM and a Blaster Banshee 16mb AGP. Sure, I have to play at 640 X480, but the game is smooth and not a chop in sight. I am waiting on a GeForce2 GTS-V 32MB AGP, which I was able to steal for under 40 bucks. Now I am wondering if I am going to see the amazing improvement that I have been looking forward to???

Hey TeKKed...... Just fitted the GeForce 3 Ti200 and RTCW is still useless... must be something else, sorry I knocked the GeForce 2MX400...... What a waste of £139.00!!

Badgern, what's your system specs. GF3 Ti rules for Quake 3 egine games, has to be a driver problem or something to do with your system.

Definately sounds like a driver problem. What OS are you running. Reinstall Directx plus any agp drivers you have for your mobo. Then install the latest nvidia drivers 28. something. Then reinstall you games. Also make sure that there are not to many other processes working in the background that use uo resourcces. If there are try and disable them and try again. RTCW should work very well now. If this does not work then try a clean system install. Also might be worth looking in your bios to check if you have optimal settings. Say What? a GeForce3 Ti 200 and RTCW Useless, k well first thing i would do is try out a few different drivers from nVidia or the manufactures own drivers might even cure the problem but before you resort to returning the card, id first reinstall the drivers and/or even reinstall your windows 98/2000/Xp or whatever your running and reinstall the card drivers and see wheather that solves the problem if not that id defenitly return the card, cause with even an MX400 after a few tests i am able to run the game smooth enugh to be fairly playable at 69.5 FPS @ 800x600 which is not to shabby considering it's a budget card and with AA on @ x2 it drops down to 55.3 FPS at the resolution so not bad, but with a GF3 Ti200 u should be able to run it atleast at 1024x768 and AA X2 with 55-65 FPS depending on the system you've got!

Hope that helps!

PS. Darn i wish ATI had better drivers cause their Radeon 8500 Cards toatlly KiK-Ars!!! mind-blowing graphics id say so! dont take me wrong not saying it's better than nVidia, but it's not any worse than nVidia on certain aspects of 3D Gaming!!

I ran RtCW on an OLD 400Mhz G3 iMac (OSX Beta) smoothly (30fps, lowest detail), while on the 1.1Ghz Pentium 3, it was at max detail, 1024*768*32 at 40 - 45fps.
