I though my cable was out for a day because all of a sudden I couldn't connect to anything. But the modem was sync'ing up so it seemed like a good connection still.

So, strictly on a hunch, I go into my network settings and change from a static IP (which I've been using for almost a year) and switched to "obtain IP address automatically" and also had to enable DHCP service. Now the connection works fine again. And it assigned me the same IP I've been using. Anyone know what gives? Why did I have to do this?

That is wierd...when I had cable I got that sometimes, but all I did was reset the modem, and go into my IP config, and release all, then renew all, and Voila. It was fine. I always was on obtain IP automatically.

Cheers,
Ranger.

My "@Home" service had sent me a notice to Change over to "DHCP" .
