I want to upgrade video on a Pentium II cpu with 256MB of RAM. The computer is mostly used for games and internet travel. Nvidia seems to be the gpu of choice, but do I get Geforce 2, 3 or 4? Does it matter who makes the board (Visiontek, MSI, etc...)? Looking for the most bang for the least buck. Thanks !

Honestly, a geforce would seriously get bottlenecked by the P2. If it's a higher p2 (350mhz or above) then a GeForce 2 woud help.

Hhhmmm...Never thought about my cpu speed when it came to the video card purchase. I have a Pentium II 350-450, but will be upgrading that to AMD soon. Thanks

Well if your getting a more advanced system soon then by all means get a GeForce 3 or above. Sure you could put it in the p2 system for now, it will enhance it but won't come even close to full potental. At either rate it wouldn't matter since you would be upgrading soon.

Do you have the right slot to put that into? Wait till you upgrade, chances are you'll save some money with a bundled package and freight too. I know its hard but PATIENCE GRASSHOPPER lol

You mean AGP slot??? Jesus, do I sound that green? Yes, I am using a Blaster Banshee in the AGP now, which at the time was a fast card. But I am noticing that more and more new games aren't testing the old Banshee chipset anymore so it is time to retire the dinosaur.
