VideoLogic Announces Vivid!XS Elite

This is I saw at www.coolinfo.com. Anyone know of a site with benchmarks on this card? I wonder if VIA is more interested in buying STMicroelectronic's chip division now?

Just ran buy Videologics website....price is :

The RRP of the 64MB Vivid!XS Elite is just £119 (inc. VAT) / 199 (inc. tax Germany

Same old Kyro, now with 200/200 core/memory, and fake T&L :(

I wonder who will be interested in tile rendering now, with all the power GeForce3/4 Ti and Radeon 8500 have ... VIA probably wants to upgrade from S3 outdated technologies to slightly less outdated of STM :(

Is there proof that it is fake T&L though?

I had an idea about the T&L being fake too. In the press release, it kept saying something about "new EnT&L ****driver***** technology"

Smell like SLOW software to me.

Well it's either a true DX7 T&L engine or an Enhanced Geometry Assist. (Like 3dfx's only a leap forward)

Well its creating quite the comotion over at MadOnion. They saying it could hit 6,000 marks at default on higher end machines which would put it around 1,000 marks slower then a GF3 Ti 200 stock (Which is damned impressive). But still that's a 3,000-3,500 mark improvment over the 4500 which is prob. the result of that EnT&L technology.

I wonder what size CPU it will need?

InnovaZero

I don't know, the orignal Kyro II needed at least a 700mhz CPU and bottom out at 1.3Ghz. I suspect the same be needed. A 700mhz CPU but this time bottom out around 1.6Ghz.

I wouldn't bother, my kyro card is pretty poor....

hmmm... I really doubt those3Dmark capabilities though. Have you guys seen how poorly the KYROII benched in 2k1? SE was supposed to even it out a bit but it didn't really as far as I can tell. Actually, as far as I can tell 2k1 SE was a bust in almost every way.

Yes but 2001 SE loves T&L, something the Kyro II 4500 did not possess. Maybe not 6k, but I bet we could see people pushing 5k.
