I have a SB Live Value, and I am considering buying a set of speakers from Creative. The problem is that I don't know which ones are best for my card. Clearly the 3500 Digital Series is the best, but I don't know if my Value card will use them to their full potential. I tried to choose from the Creative website, but I got even more confused, since these people try to make you buy the most expensive stuff...
So, here's the question:
Which ones should I buy? And, yes, money IS an issue http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
All I want is good 3D sound, with (if possible) Environmental Sounds and front/back with Dolby...
Anyone has something to propose? I prefer Creative speakers since I guess they will be 100% copatible, but if you have good experiences with other brands, just let me know!!!!
Thanks

I`ve got a SBLive PLayer, and correct me if I`m wrong, but the only differences between the Live! card is the software, except for the Platinum (which includes amp).
I run mine on the Creative FPS1000 speakers. Four point surround sound and a sub. The sound is excellent! Nice bass from the amp, nice clear sounds from the other speakers. I`m very pleased with mine!
They use the front and rear outputs on the card, and if you look, I`m sure you have them.
People will probably post on here saying, "Get a Pro Logic, blah blah blah!" But I reckon the Creative speakers are pretty **** good!
So there! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Oh, btw..........dunno if you`ve got DVD on your PC. But PowerDVD has built in support for 4 Speaker decoding, so that sounds excellent too! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

The FPS1000 should be a great match. I don't know about Dolby surround, but, if you use the digital output (BTW Techie dude, this is what you should use) the sound is awesome! They're on sale for $129 right now.
From what i can recall there is two version of the value card-- digital and the other. if you have an opition in the advance tab that checks on digital i would image that you would have the digital version.
Why i think it doesn't work is because your amp is not digital and thus they are not communicating. thus no sound.
I personal Don't not have this card-- no computer at home yet.
I have been leaning towards this card but was wondering one thing.
??This card will connect to an out side receiver/amp yes or no via rca cable??.
I intend to just get basic two speakers for computing and for gaming and dvds hook it to my Denon home receiver. It would be a shame not to be able to use such high quality speakers and receiver.

Thanks a lot guys, but I must say that I am more confused than before now http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif
I tried the "digital" option and I get no sound at all out of my machine. Ok, I guess it is not easy to understand, so I will explain it...
I have a SB Live Value that is connected to an amplifier which is connected to two speakers. Everything works great, unless I go to "advanced" options and click the digital box. If I do that, I get no sound at all.
This makes me wonder:
Do I need Digital Sound? I almost never record music...
I basically need help, cause I don't have a SB manual... I am totally lost. I tried creative's website but I am not an expert, so I got even more confused.
I want my card to be USED AT ITS MAX, and if possible create this EAX (or whatever they call it) and Dolby effects...
I installed a program that also allows me to pick different kind of effects according to the game, and I must say this seems great! I haven't tried it though...
So, what is wrong with my "digital" option? Why when it is selected I can't hear any music? Oh, and a second question: How can I see if my card is a "5.1"? The 5.1 has EAX support it seems... Or something like that. I am REALLY confused here...
Grgrgrgrgrgrgrgrgrgr I just remember the first SB which was so easy to configure... You only need 3 numbers http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
Thanks for the help.

PS: I think I'm gonna buy the FS1000, but I am also considering the 2200 Digital...

I have the SBLive Value in my PC. I just picked up the creative PCworks speaker set made by cambridge. It is not digital but has a subwoofer with two satellite speakers coming off of the woofer. The sound is very good for $40 speakers. I have it pluged into the lime green input connector. My card also has a yellow connector which is supposed to be for the digital output. If you select digital you will have to have your speaker connection there if you do not already. i had gone into the advanced setup and chose the digital option and my speakers quit working. So, you sould try selecting the digital in the advanced menu and then move your speaker connction to the yellow output and see if you get sound. Let us know if that fixes your problem and if so how it sounds.

Thanks for the info!!!
Well, I have my set of speakers plugged in the green spot, and they work. When I go into advanced options and check the digital option, they don't work antmore, but plugging them into the yellow spot doesn't make them work neither...
SO there's something wrong going on... I thought about 2 things:
1) My speakers cannot support digital option
(if this is really an issue I don't know)
2) I have set up wrong my audio card, meaning that in a hardware way (a cable possibly not connected to the right place?)
Thanks

when i was shopping for a speaker set for my comp i looked everywere for reviews on speakers.the two that everyone seamed to be pleased with were the acs48 powercubes from altec lansing and the fps2000 digital from cambridge soundworks.the 48s are a three piece and the 2000 a 5 piece, only the 2000's are digital where the 48's are analog.i got the 2000's because my SBlive xgamer card has a digital input, anyway they sound awesome! Quake3 sounded like theater sound and their customer service is supposed to be good to
food 4 thoght....
