Hi folks,
A quick question more like your opinions really.
I was looking at the Geforce3 Ti200, which I can get in the UK for £130, which was okay, but then I discovered the RADEON 7500 64MB DDR for under £100.
So I am asking for your opinions on the Radeon 7500, do you think I should upgarde to this from a geforce2 T400 or not??
Cheers

wizard101uk, I was in the same shoes as you. I picked the MSI Geforce2Ti card (but of course this was months ago).
In my opinion - Geforce3Ti 200.

geforce2 T400 ... is this MX400?

In terms of benchmarks, the Geforce3Ti 200 comes out on top over the Radeon 7500. I believe the geforce3 ti200 has better direct8x support. Also, that Nvidia card is better for gaming because it is generally faster in clock speeds.
Many agree that ATI's cards are produce better quality for imagining - DVD,video ....

Bottom line is, in my opinion :
Nvidia Geforce3 Ti 200 - higher clock speeds comparing to 7500(3.6ns memory?)good for gaming without ti500's price.
ATI - best quality for video playback. Drivers can be a bit troublesome.

Check out
http://service.madonion.com/servlet/Index?pageid=/orb/index

for some benchmarks.

Also for 3dmark in it's hall of fame this is it's card in order

1. ATI Radeon 8500

2. NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 500

3. NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200

4. NVIDIA GeForce3

5. ATI Radeon 7500

6. NVIDIA GeForce2 Ultra

7. NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS/Pro/Ti

8. ATI RADEON DDR

9. NVIDIA GeForce DDR

10. ATI RADEON SDR

As you can see the Geforce ti 200 is #3 and the Radeon 7500 is # 5

Hope this helps.

If it didn't ;) - go for GeForce3 Ti200 ! Between the two it's clearly the winner !

With the prices of the R8500 retail boxed being so low.
I would look at the Radeon 8500 275/275.
This card will outperform the GF3Ti200 even if you OC the Ti200 the R8500 will perform right along side the nVidia card.
Drivers are really good in the later versions.

I just went form the radeon 7500 to the GF3 Ti200(PNY) and its a world af difference. The DVD playback isnt quite as good, but for gaming and benchmarking, the Ti200 steals the show~~!!

The best my Radeon 7500 could do in 3dmark 2001se was 4250.

I just ran my GF3 Ti200 @ the 205/485 O/C level and pulled 7341 3d marks!!!!:D

Did you OC the 7500?

Do you think it's fair to make a statement that the Ti200 OC'ed will beat the R7500?

You should put the Ti200 OC'ed up against the R8500 then you would have a good match up to see the perfromance between the two.

The Ti200 will OC to the Ti500 ratings. The R8500 competes equal to the Ti500.

The statment you are making is like taking a Chevy Cavalier and putting it up against a Mustang GT.

The better compareson would be the Mustang GT up against the Chevy Camaro Z28.

bobyjo, The Ti200 is the radeon 7500 competition. They are in the same category, so its not like comparing focus to a corvette.

The radeon has a higher core speed than the Ti200 also.

Now if I were comparing the Ti200 to the 8500, that would be quite the difference.

Speaking of mustang GT, I own one:D 435hp supercharged 91GT:eek:

I wouldn't say so. While GeForce3 Ti200 is based on DX8 compliant GeForce3 chip, Radeon 7500 is just a faster version of DX7 Radeon DDR, with only minor improvements. So even 290MHz core clocked Radeon 7500 can't beat only 175MHz core clocked GeForce3 Ti200.
Real competitor for Radeon 7500 is GeForce2 Pro/Ti.
