These are the specs. for my system:
System Memory
Supports 2 memory banks using two 168-pin unbuffered DIMM.
Supports single or double sided DIMMS with gold-plated contacts at a clock speed of 100 MHz.
Supports a maximum memory size of 512 MB (128-bit technology) or 256 MB (64-bit technology) for SDRAM.
Supports 3.3 V SDRAM DIMMs.
ECC memory checking is not supported

My question is, I have purchased a memory stick that is in compliance with all the specs except for the clock speed. The chip i bought is pc133. Should this still work even though my system is calling for a max. 100MHz?

If this should work, then I have another question.
I have installed the stick, I have tried both slots, but my computer just wont recognize it?
Or maybe it does and I am just looking in the wrong place. I check in the properties of "My Computer" to see what it says for my memory, but it doesn't change after installing the stick.

So what do I do?

By the way, my system currently has 64m of ram, and im trying to add a 256m stick.

And, the ram that came with the system says (on the sticker on the stick) that it is pc133. but the system specs say only 1ooMHz.
???????

PC133 will work no a 100Mhz bus. ( I currently have 2 133 sticks on my 100mhz bus)

Strange about not recognising it.

You should see when you boot up a message in a table with someone like memory at bank(s) 0,1 or whichever you have the memory in.

You should be able to use the PC133 but it will only run at 100mhz.

An alternative may be to just put the new stick in so that the 256 runs at 133hz.
