I have a Hercules geforce 2 MX card on a Shuttle AK31A rev3.1 motherboard. My problem is 50% to 60% of the time when I boot up the computer windows boots up but them on the system tray it has a message saying detecting new AGP device and then freezes. I hit the reset button and sometimes the same problem shows up or it boots perfect. If it boots perfect the computer and video work 100% with no problems and will remain that way until shutdown or reboot. Also 20% of the time the the display becomes fragmented with crazy colors just before or just after POST. The BIOS settings are set to default agp 4x and apeture 64m I set it down to 2x amd 32m but did no good. shadow video bios is set to enable. The drivers are the ones that Windows XP automaticaly use. Any suggestions on how to fix this.

if your getting problems just after POST could be a m/b card conflict, have you checked both the web page for the makers of the motherboard and graphic card, and looked for any firmware updates??

Apart from that my only other suggestion is to get rid of XP. (Sorry dislike it a lot).

Dave.

Re-check your card is seated properly.
Check for good PSU.
