I just installed a 24x10x40 Sony EXTERNAL cd burner on a Dell 700mhz 20gig with Windows ME. I installed Ahead Nero 5.5 and it will not recognize the burner no matter what I do. I've uninstalled all the software bundled with the cd burner to prevent .vxd conflicts but to no avail.
I use Ahead Nero with a Yamaha burner and it works beautifully. Any suggestions?

Is windows recognizing it?
Have you treid any other burning programs to see if it is nero or your burner?

check to see if you need a firmware update to make the drive install properly...

is this a usb, firewire, or scsi external?

Says something about the install process with Sony CDU-928E
is that the model you have?

Thanx for replying all:

The burner itself seems to work fine, e.g., it reads any cd. I've checked for updates on the Nero website, but can't find clear info as to whether this drive is supported by Nero or not.
The drive itself is the Sony crx1750u USB 2.0 ( USB 1.0 on the computer with windows ME).
As of today the software still does not recognize that the burner exists although it is installed and shows up under "control panel".
