I can connect to my ISP logged in as ROOT, but when I use a regular ID, the host keeps hanging up on me. What is different about ROOT?

Did you create the dial-up account while logged on as ROOT? The system may be treating the account as personal for another user.

Also, since many ISPs use Unix servers, a username of ROOT may be globally forbidden.

I reinstalled the dialer from the other login userid and it still doesn't want to connect.
