Have a 1st mainboard motherboard VA 503 with a amd k6 processer.
My problem is will not reconize more than 64 megs of memory also cannot shutdown windows 98 through shutdown, have dowloaded shutdown patch, checked msconfig,
Anyone have any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

You really didn't give to much to go on so if you are already aware of the following I am sorry. Mixing of simms and dimms can cause "unusual problem" this could be cause of shutdown.
Do you have the owners manual if not go to fic page ftp://ftp.fica.com/manuals/motherboards/VA-503/ and download zip file VA-503A1FU.
You really don't say what type of memory and if you mixing dimm and simms. You cannot use both according to manual, also do you have the correct type, SIMMs and DIMMs must be FPM or EDO Dimms must also be unbuffered and if using more then 1 stick are they the same brand and type. Sometimes mixing or wrong types will not allow memory to be reconize.
I did not read the complete manual but check to see if there is jumper for memory between simms and dimms.
Hope this helps out some if not post back with more info specs, hardware ect.. then maybe others can help a more.
