I paid $100 for 256mb. Syncmax has a compatibility chart and also has fast e-mail responses. I contatced them with a question on sunday morning had a response by the afternoon. Although i can't say the same for computerupersale, the price was right http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif Roy 12-11-2000, 05:03 PM If it works for you, it will outlast the usefulness of the system in which it is installed. Generic PC133 might not go 150, but 66- and 100MHz processors OC with it just fine. If it makes you feel better, look for some with a warranty long enough to find out if it runs, and to return it if necessary. OuTpaTienT 12-11-2000, 05:07 PM hmmmm, maybe forever. It'll certainly last as long as name-brand memory. I've had relatively little problem with generic memory. But don't count on it overclocking very well, that's the main thing. If you're really looking forward to overclocking then get name-brand stuff. But just fyi, the last generic memory I purchased was PC100 and it ran like a charm up to 125mhz. nunyadam 12-11-2000, 05:07 PM this memory would be going in a duron 600@800 on an a7v if you think it would make a difference. giant69 12-11-2000, 05:19 PM Get some Crucial, Kingston or Mushkin RAM and I guarantee you that the RAM will last longer than your current or future configs! Good Luck steve http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif NDC 12-11-2000, 05:55 PM The only main difference between Major Brand Memory and Generic Memory is that they were just seperated into different batches after a quality test was done. The quality is based on the overclockability of the memory. As you may know, PC-100 can usually handle 124 or even 133 FSB, as for Generic memory there is a less chance that it will be able to handle a FSB higher than it is specified. But don't take me wrong, some generic memory overclock very well. I using Samsung Memory sticks on my system which is PC-100 but can run at 128 rock-solid. But you have to keep in mind that not all Major Brand Memory Modules overclock well either..... The bottom line is, if you aren't planning to overclock your system, Generic Memory will be perfectly safe to purchase. Because it is Generic, it doesn't mean that it will last shorter than Major Brand Memory Modules... It just won't be able to be overclocked as well as Major Brand Memory Modules. Win_98 12-12-2000, 08:57 AM That because there are more wait state in Generic then there are in BRAND name. but both should last indefinitely. I have DIMM 32meg PC66 that is so far still work. The timing are only slightly better on brandname which mean it will overclock a little better. NOTHING WRONG WITH GENERIC THOUGHT, THEY ARE CHEAP and QUITE USEFUL. YOU SAVE $$$ and the quality is just as good if not better varies on which kind of generic you got Win_98 12-12-2000, 09:04 AM I think it will last a million years LOL or until you take it and snap it in half LOL or burn out by overclocking it excessively to say over what it rated. It best to run a Pc100 at 100, and Pc133 at 133. zskillz 12-12-2000, 10:00 AM buy lifetime warranty memory www.mwave.com (http://www.mwave.com) sells it... it'll last forever .ahaahahhaa -Z SysOpt.com
