They check the signal level to make sure there's enough coming into the house to keep up the connection. There's quite a few on the market. One commonly used one comes from a company called Wavetek. I don't think you want to dish out a grand or two though. There's probably cheaper ones though. Hope that helps. Shadal 03-08-2002, 10:43 PM Yeah CableGuy, .. It was this little box that he pluged the cable into, said "Nope, not good enough." Replaced the incoming cable, pluged the box back onto the end of the cable, said "Yep, that's better." Then pluged the modem on. ...Signal Meter... Sounds good, will take a look :) SysOpt.com
