Configuration Interface
The Ethernet Disk RAID is designed equally as a network backup drive and file server. Storage space can be divided among shared folders, backup files, and free space as desired.
The Ethernet Disk RAID supports RAID modes 0, 5, and 10, and JBOD, with the option to make one of its four disk a hot-spare in RAID 5 mode.
The Ethernet Disk RAID is also able to function as a DHCP server, a great added feature that's disabled by default. Configuring the system where no DHCP server exists can be troublesome, but smooth sailing follows after enabling it.
Testing a network that lacked a standalone DHCP server, we were forced to mess around with Windows network settings to get into the Ethernet RAID Disk's configuration menu. Isn't there a way for manufacturers to make their devices automatically enable the DHCP server when none is found on the network?
The Ethernet Disk RAID menus aren't as intuitive as those of the Ethernet Big Disk. The drive supports Windows and Mac OSX file sharing through CIFS, Mac OS and Linux users through NFS.
