Conclusion
CoolIT Systems did an outstanding job when the company released the Freezone back in 2006, but its price was set a bit high for many users. With the Eliminator though, CoolIT introduces MTEC cooling into the mainstream with an approximate $160 street price ($199 through CoolIT), and targeted at processors with a 125W TDP, rather than the 175W of the Freezone.
Installing the cooler took about 30 minutes and the process was straightforward. The integrated control switch is also a nice addition and the hardware build quality is excellent. Cooling performance is top notch and CoolIT keeps noise levels within an acceptable range.
Certainly, the company's efforts to innovate in the PC cooling world has paid off, and by introducing Peltiers into desktop cooling solutions, CoolIT has attracted many enthusiasts, while setting the bar very high for its competition.
Pros:
Outstanding cooling performance
Acceptable noise levels
Excellent build quality
Great design
Easy installation
Maintenance free
Cons:
Still Expensive
The Verdict: MTEC Cooling Technology is certainly not for everyone, but hardware enthusiasts and overclockers will appreciate the excellent cooling performance of the CoolIT Eliminator
