Larger CPU coolers have historically ruled the quiet-PC market with oversized fin structures and large, low-speed fans that produce barely a whisper. Oversized coolers also dominate the high-performance segment, since oversized fans can often be sped up for massive cooling.
But that leaves owners of smaller systems, such as slimline Home Theater PCs, with a difficult choice: sacrificing performance with a slower, cooler processor, or living with small, noisy high-speed cooler. One manufacturer is looking to add another option.
Famous for its enormous circular and fan-shaped coolers, Zalman has consistently impressed us with quality materials and construction, and routinely delights us with easy-to-use mounting hardware. But the new CNPS8000 is different than any Zalman thats gone before, as its non-circular design offers reduced size and weight. Can less be more? Can so bold a design departure bring with it good cooling as well? And will Zalman maintain its superior quality standards without going overboard on price?
