Manufacturing giant Foxconn has been a major producer of power supplies for years, with its brand name showing up inside major OEM systems since the 90s. Save for connector subcomponents, power supplies are the first offerings we've seen actually branded by the company, as its other parts were usually unmarked. Yet the company only began garnering popular fame with its motherboards -- so well forgive younger builders for being unfamiliar with Foxconn power supplies.
But there's a big difference between 200W parts typically found in pre-built systems and the high-capacity units retail buyers demand, so we jumped at the opportunity to test its high-end WinFast FA-550. Will this power supply live up to the grand reputation Foxconn has earned in its motherboard products, a reputation that includes high quality, exceptional features, and value pricing? Or would Foxconn be better off sticking to motherboards? Let's take a closer look!
