Power and Features Beyond Your Needs? Ultra X3 800W Power Supply Review- Page 1/4
November 29, 2007
By Thomas Soderstrom

A few months ago we reviewed Ultra's high-output X3 1000W power supply and determined that if you really need that much juice, you will find good value there. But does anyone really need 1000W, even for a high-end system? Ultra sent over its lower-priced X3 800W to help us find out.

We could put this new Ultra 800W part through the same huge load as we had previously used for the same brand's 1000W unit, but that would be too easy. Instead, we'll take the Ultra X3 800W to the next level of stress, and see if it can survive. And more important, can its combination of features, power, and price make it an even better value than its higher capacity, 1000W predecessor?
