Intelligent Protection: Cooler Master iGreen Power 500W Review- Page 3/6

Features (continued)

Drive power includes two 3-device SATA power leads, a lead with two 4-pin Molex plus one floppy power connector, and a three-device 4-pin Molex lead. EZ-Grip style plugs allow Molex connectors to be more easily removed from a drive. Combined support for six SATA, five ATA, and one floppy drive should be enough for most configurations.

Deeply-finned aluminum sinks draw heat away from internal components. All parts carry API part numbers, indicating a unit manufactured by Acbel Polytech Inc., long-time manufacturing partner of major OEMs. In spite of obvious outsourcing, Cooler Master advertises a far more advanced design than anything from ACbel's own parts list, indicating the iGreen Power 500W as a custom specified unit.

Capacitors are labeled LTEC (Luminous Town Electronics Co.) and PAG (a Nippon Chemi-Con specification), two brands we consider average and good, respectively. If that doesn't inspire confidence, a three-year warranty and an advertised mean time between failures of 400,000 hours should help!

A dual ball-bearing 120mm cooling fan also carries the Cooler Master label, but is manufactured by Cheng Home Electronics Co. Ltd., makers of the respected Superred brand. Though Superred is famed for long-lasting, not-so-silent fans, Cooler Master's smart-speed settings are designed to keep the noise down under typical operating conditions.

Cooler Master also includes a user's manual, U.S. power cord, and four standard mounting screws.
